GRAND JUNCTION, Colo.—Mesa County sheriff’s deputies are investigating the discovery of a body near a Department of Energy compound on Orchard Mesa.
Mesa County sheriff’s spokeswoman Heather Benjamin says deputies responded about 10:45 a.m. Thursday on a report that a man’s body was seen between the Gunnison River and Union Pacific railroad tracks.
The man who discovered the body was interviewed by deputies
Benjamin says it’s too early to speculate on how or why the person died. An autopsy is planned.
Authorities won’t say whether foul play is suspected.
