DETROIT — General Motors Corp. said it will eliminate shifts at two truck plants and slow output at two others under a previously announced plan to build 300,000 fewer vehicles by 2009.

GM also said its Saab unit is cutting the length of its warranty on its 2009 models to reduce costs. Saab will now offer a four-year power-train warranty for up to 50,000 miles in place of the five-year, 100,000-mile warranty offered on other GM brands.
