Colorado State University police continue to investigate the death of Matthew Quitmeyer, a former student who was found shot to death in a residence hall parking lot last week.

Police have so far released little information, but they say they are pursuing “promising leads,” CSU spokeswoman Dell Rae Moellenberg said.

Quitmeyer, 27, who completed the 2007 spring semester at CSU and withdrew that fall, was shot once in the chest. His body was found Friday in a parking lot adjacent to CSU’s Summit Hall at 11:08 p.m.

Quitmeyer lived in an apartment building at 914 W. Lake Street next to the lot.

Grief and trauma counseling for employees and students troubled by the death are available through the University Counseling Center on campus.
