Denver police have identified a suspect in a fatal shooting over the weekend that stemmed from an argument over a parking space, which also left a pregnant woman wounded.
Twenty-year-old Andrew Ortiz, who goes by the nickname “Cyco,” is a suspect in the shooting, Denver police said. Ortiz is described as being five-feet five-inches tall and 165 pounds with brown hair and brown eyes.
He is suspected of shooting a man just before 1 a.m. Saturday in the 3200 block of West Conejos Place, police said. The unidentified victim was found lying between two cars in an alleyway.
The dispute began over parking and led to a group of people arguing and then a multiple shooting.
The pregnant woman was shot in the knee and was treated and released from a local hospital, said the woman’s sister, Raylynn Segundo, 18.
Segundo said a group of about 20 people were at a birthday party for another of her sisters when a neighbor started yelling and cursing about his parking place being taken.
A visitor at the birthday party moved the car but the man kept yelling, Segundo said.
The angry man opened the trunk of a car, pulled out a crow bar and started threatening people, Segundo told The Denver Post. A man then approached the man with the crow bar and shot him.
Anyone with information about the fatal shooting or Ortiz is asked to call Denver police at 720-913-2000, or Crime Stoppers at 720-913-STOP (7867).
