In emails to supporters and on his web site, presumptive Democratic presidential nominee Barack Obama has announced details of a plan to let a select few have a behind-the-scenes view of the convention.
People who make a donation in any amount before midnight July 31, have a chance to be selected to travel to Denver for the last two days of the convention — including the last night’s speech at Invesco Field at Mile High, the Obama web site says.
“Ten supporters from all over the country will be selected to go ‘Backstage with Barack.’ We’ll provide airfare, accommodations, and two days of convention activities for each supporter and their guest — including a private meeting with Barack before his historic speech. Watch the video and make a donation now and you could have a front row seat to history,” the site urges.
An email sent today to supporters touted the opportunity to be part of history:
“Barack’s speech at the convention will be a culmination of the unlikely journey that has brought all of us so far over the past 17 months.
“He will call on us to come together and work for change — not just to win this election, but to make things better for all Americans.
“Seeing it in person will be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. I’m excited about being there, and if you make a donation of $5 or more before the deadline, you could join Barack backstage.”
