A Lafayette police officer turned himself in at the Boulder County Jail today on charges related to domestic violence, according to the Boulder County Sheriff’s Office.
James Stafford, 34, is charged with one felony, harassment/stalking, and two misdemeanors, criminal mischief and official misconduct.
The alleged victim is not being identified.
“It’s a domestic violence situation, so we’re not releasing that information,” said Boulder Sheriff’s Commander Phil West.
The Lafayette Police Department asked the Sheriff’s Department to investigate the allegations against its officer on Monday, which led to the charges.
Stafford is free on a $5,000 bond.
The Lafayette Police Department said it would conduct an administrative review of Stafford.
