I need to furnish and decorate my living room. Can you help me find inspiration to transform the space from the ground up?
There are endless ways to be inspired to begin a project. When one is starting to decorate a room from the ground up, a custom rug is a wonderful way to gain inspiration and direction. Instead of starting with artwork that hangs on the wall, rugs can be the art form you begin with. Pattern, color and texture are inherent qualities that are usually present in a rug. Why not let this piece set the stage and dictate the room’s mood, color and furnishings?
Often (but not always), color, fabric, wall coverings, window treatments, art and furnishings will all be specified after the rug is selected or designed. With one client, I chose to do a subtle granulated center in the rug, and then let the more detailed area of the rug skirt around the edges with a border design. This client also did not want anything too defined in the design, so the relaxed pattern is reflected in the border design of the rug.
So, design or find that perfect rug, lay it down and let the inspiration build.
