Two Lakewood brothers have been convicted in the shooting death of a 20-year-old man.

Adam Joseph Zamora, 22, was found guilty Monday by a Jefferson County jury of murder, aggravated robbery and possession of marijuana with intent to distribute, according to the Jefferson County District Attorney’s Office. His brother, Aaron Michael Zamora, 21, was found guilty of reckless manslaughter.

In April of 2007 the body of Dylan Newman was found in a home at 6412 W. Morraine Place. Newman had been fatally shot.

Prosecutors say Newman was planning to buy a large amount of marijuana from the brothers and showed up at the home with $10,500. The brothers, however, attempted to rob Newman of the cash, a struggle broke out and Newman was shot.

Three other men – Jeffrey Serge Depault, 22; Eric Mathew Rooney, 19; and Derek Andrew Wolf, 19 — are involved in the case.

In February Jeffrey Depault pleaded guilty to second degree murder, aggravated robbery, and one violent crime count. He will be sentenced on August 22 and faces up to 48 years in prison.

In October Eric Rooney pleaded guilty to second degree murder. His sentencing date has not yet been scheduled. Rooney also faces up to 48 years in prison.

Derek M. Wolf, 19, has pleaded guilty to possession of marijuana.

Adam Zamora, who remains in custody without bond, will be sentenced in October to life in prison without the possibility of parole, the DA’s office said in a press release.

Aaron Zamora, who will be sentenced the same day, faces up to six years in prison. His bond has been set at $125,000.
