The Colorado Department of Human Services has implemented several recommendations included in a study made in the wake of 13 child fatalities in 2007.
All caseworkers have been trained or retrained in safety and assessment, the department announced Friday, in compliance with one of the April study’s key short-term recommendations.
Other recommendations implemented include:
• The new Child Welfare Action Committee held its first meeting Thursday.
• Counties have begun receiving training on how to access a new data platform.
• The department is in the process of hiring six monitors for county welfare programs.
