BRIGHTON, Colo.—A judge has ordered a trial for a 17-year-old accused of stabbing his friend’s father while he was spending the night at their home.
Andrew Michael Galek is expected to enter a plea on Sept. 11 for the case in which he is being tried as an adult on a first-degree murder charge. Police say Galek stabbed 63-year-old Hans Winter at his home in Westminster on July 13.
Police first received a call from Winter saying Galek had a small knife and was suicidal. Police say they found Galek hiding under a parked pickup truck near the victim’s home about 15 minutes after the stabbing.
An Adams County judge on Friday bound Galek over for trial. Galek is being held without bond.
