The University of Northern Colorado men’s basketball team will open the 2008-09 season on the road at Oregon and the Ducks’ historic McArthur Court on Nov. 14.
UNC’s finalized schedule released Saturday also includes nonconference road games at Colorado State (Nov. 18) and Denver (Nov. 26), with two Mountain West Conference teams visiting Butler-Hancock Pavilion — San Diego State (Dec. 3) and Air Force (Dec. 6).
The Bears (13-16, 6-10 Big Sky last season) also will visit Creighton (Dec. 13) and Fresno State (Dec. 18).
Fowler scores for U.S.
Rockies farmhand Dexter Fowler, leading off and playing designated hitter, scored the first run for the U.S. Olympic baseball team in a 7-2 exhibition victory over Canada in Durham, N.C.
Fowler tripled to lead off the game and scored on an error. Fowler’s teammate at Double-A Tulsa, Casey Weathers, pitched a scoreless ninth inning. Second baseman Jayson Nix of Triple-A Colorado Springs did not play.
