Shortstop Troy Tulowitzki was grinding through a forgettable weekend. Entering his eighth-inning at-bat, he was 1-for-13 with two errors. Reliever Joe Nelson tried to get him to roll over on a changeup. Tulowitzki grounded the ball into left field, tying the game at 2 and setting the stage for Seth Smith’s go-ahead, pinch-hit single in the ninth. “It was a tough series. It feels good to come through in a key situation,” said Tulowitzki, who finished the road trip 15-for-37, raising his average to .234.

Marlins shortstop Hanley Ramirez, who had been pouting since the club failed to acquire good friend Manny Ramirez on Thursday, did not start, replaced by Alfredo Amezaga.
