LONGMONT, Colo.—Longmont police say a suspect tried to take an officer’s gun during a fight, but the man was subdued and no injuries were reported.
Police say the Saturday incident was the second time in just days that a suspect has tried to take an officer’s gun.
In the latest incident, police say an officer pulled over a vehicle that was speeding and weaving and the driver ran away. When Officer Auggie Bernal found him, the driver punched him and tried to take his gun. Bernal pepper-sprayed the suspect and other officers helped arrest him.
Thirty-four-year-old Michael Robert Martinez faces charges of assault, disarming an officer and other counts.
In the earlier incident, a suspect allegedly tried to grab an officer’s gun during an arrest.
