AURORA — Aurora police Tuesday released the identity of an 18-year-old man shot to death in the parking lot of a bar and restaurant where his band performed Saturday night.
Kenny Ali Pena Meraz died of a gunshot to the head outside La Sierra Bar and Grill, 2045 Clinton St. in Aurora.
He was loading the band’s equipment outside the bar at 2:45 a.m. Sunday, witnesses said, when a blue Chevy Blazer pulled up alongside. The men in the sport utility vehicle argued with Meraz, and one opened fire.
Meraz died at a local hospital, and two men and one juvenile were arrested nearby shortly after the shooting.
Aurora police are not releasing the identities of the suspects until formal charges are filed and until U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement determines their immigration statuses.
