An investigation into a fire that claimed three lives in the Roxborough area is likely to take several weeks.
West Metro Fire Rescue investigators have been working to determine if an explosion caused the fierce blaze that incinerated the two-story home at 9877 Fairwood St. early Sunday.
“We want to do a thorough investigation into the cause,” said Michelle French, a spokeswoman for West Metro Fire Rescue.
Neighbors reported being awakened by loud popping sounds and looking to see fire devouring the house.
Joey Shedron, 24, his girlfriend, Amber Jeffers, 18, and a friend, Jeremy McCarroll, 20, died in the blaze. Devin Barnhart, 23, who was severely burned, remains in critical condition at University Hospital.
Friends are looking for Shedron’s dog Sprocket, a black-and-white female border collie mix, who may have escaped the flames.
There was a doggy door at the house, and friends are hoping that the dog ran out when the fire started.
She was wearing a red collar with a heart-shaped tag inscribed with his name.
Any one who sees Sprocket should call Mac at 303-968-7241.
