Republican congressional candidate Mike Coffman filed a complaint with the Federal Election Commission on Thursday against a nonprofit group that put its name on a mailing attacking him.
The complaint is the latest twist in the mailing saga, which started last week when the flier began hitting mailboxes in the 6th Congressional District in the southern metro area.
John Berry, the registered agent for the group ostensibly behind the mailing, Protect Colorado Jobs, quickly said the flier was created and sent without his knowledge or that of the group’s donors. He said Protect Colorado Jobs’ chairman, Curt Cerveny, hijacked the organization and sent out the flier on his own. The organization was originally formed to support a right-to-work measure.
