Two men on bicycles were killed Wednesday night in Colorado Springs and the driver of the truck that hit them has been arrested on suspicion of vehicular homicide and driving under the influence of drugs, police said.

Barbara Thomas, 64, was driving a 1986 Ford F350 pickup truck south on South 26th Street in Colorado Springs at about 7:40 p.m., when the fatal collision occurred, police said.

Edgar Juarez, 30, and Jayson Kilroy, 28, both of Colorado Springs, were among five cyclists going north in the northbound lane when Thomas made a left hand turn on to Westend Avenue, striking hitting the two men head-on, killing both instantly, police said.

Thomas was also was charged with driving with a restricted license and failing to wear eyeglasses, as her license requires.
