CHICAGO — United Airlines, the world’s second-largest airline, may forfeit $91 million from advance deposits on 42 Airbus SAS planes if it decides to cancel those orders.

The airline no longer expects to take delivery of these aircraft, United’s parent, Chicago-based UAL Corp., said in a July 24 regulatory filing. The orders haven’t been terminated yet, UAL said.
