China got behind its team, and its Olympics, with packed venues and wildly enthusiastic fans. Fans packed the cycling road race from downtown Beijing to the Great Wall, waving flags and cheering. National pride was displayed throughout the venues, much as it was during the opening ceremony the night before, when Chinese athletes were introduced.
