DENVER—The Colorado Avalanche signed former second-round draft picks Tom Fritsche and Nigel Williams to entry-level contracts.
Fritsche (pronounced Fritt-chee) is a forward who was the 47th overall selection in the 2005 draft and Williams is a defenseman who was the 51st overall pick in 2006.
The 21-year-old Fritsche just completed his senior season at Ohio State, and 20-year-old Williams helped the Ontario Hockey League’s Belleville Bulls reach the Memorial Cup last year after joining the team at midseason from Saginaw.
The moves were announced Monday.
