Metro residents have stayed strong through a summer of enduring heat and dryness. But relief is around the bend.
Today and tomorrow will be bright and sunny, with highs near 89 degrees, the National Weather Service says.
Then Thursday will dip to 83 degrees, and Friday will plummet to a balmy 73 – that’s the high, not the low.
The average high in August is 87 degrees, according to the Weather Service. This month’s high has been above-average, at 90.9 degrees so far.
Primary voters throughout the city don’t need to worry about rain or hail, like last week. Clear skies are expected today, and tomorrow has only a slight chance of precipitation.
The Weather Service is forecasting a 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms on Thursday, with wind gusts as high as 32 mph.
Overnight temps this week will be slightly cooler than usual, descending from 62 degrees Tuesday night to 52 degrees Friday night.
The weekend forecast is sunny and warm, with highs in the lower 80s.
