Denver Mayor John Hickenlooper will participate in the opening night of the Democratic National Convention, and Gov. Bill Ritter will participate on Thursday, one of the convention’s producers announced this morning.
Producer Mark Squier said that bookending the convention with prominent Colorado Democrats was part of a larger strategy to showcase the party’s rise in what has become a political battleground.
“We will have, obviously, a lot of Western speakers during the convention,” Squier said.
