NOUAKCHOTT, Mauritania — More than two-thirds of lawmakers in Mauritania’s parliament signed a declaration Wednesday favoring last week’s army- led coup, contrasting sharply with the international condemnation of the political upheaval.
The declaration asked world governments to recognize the new military-run regime that ousted the African nation’s democratically elected president.
