Eagle County authorities are looking for three men who pretended to be cops and drove separate cars when they made a traffic stop on U.S. 6 in Gypsum Tuesday.

All three wore dark blue clothes that made them resemble officers and they had matching dark-colored sedans with red and blue lights in their windshields.

They let the person they pulled over go without incident. That person notified authorities the next day.

“It’s really weird,” said Eagle County spokeswoman Shannon Cordingly. “We don’t know why they did it, but we want to find them.”

Anyone with information can receive a $1,000 reward and remain anonymous by calling the Eagle County Crime Stoppers at 970-328-7007, 1-800-972-8477 or by providing the tip online at .
