The Avalanche will begin its 2008 training camp on Sept. 14, the team said, drawing in a roster of rookies hoping to make the NHL roster.

Colorado’s rookie camp runs from Sept. 14-17 at the Avs’ practice facility at South Suburban Family Sports Center. Practices are free and open to the public.

Veterans report for preseason practice on Sept. 20.

The team’s annual Burgundy-White game, an intrasquad scrimmage, is scheduled for Sept. 22 at the Air Force Academy’s Cadet Ice Arena.

The Avs’ preseason schedule starts on Sept. 24, when the team hosts the Los Angeles Kings at the Pepsi Center.

AVS TRAINING CAMP SCHEDULE

Sept. 14-17 … Rookie training camp, 9:30-11:30 a.m.

Sept. 20-21 … Training camp, 9 a.m.-noon

Sept. 22 … Burgundy-White game, 6 p.m., at Air Force Academy

Sept. 23 … Training camp, 9 a.m.-noon

Sept. 24 … Preseason opener vs. Los Angeles, 7 p.m., Pepsi Center

Game time changes

The NHL changed three Avs game times for the upcoming season.

Colorado will host St. Louis at the Pepsi Center on Apr. 12 at 3 p.m.

Also, the Avs will play at Calgary on Oct. 14 and Oct. 28, both at 7:30 p.m.
