DOUGLAS COUNTY — The Douglas County School Board agreed Tuesday night to ask voters in November to approve a $395 million bond package for new schools.

The board also approved going to voters for an additional $17 million for programs, as well as teacher training and retention.

If approved, both measures would be funded by a property-tax increase that would cost the average homeowner in Douglas County an extra $10 a month, district officials said.

The bond would pay for 10 new elementary schools and the expansion of one high school, as well as renovations to existing buildings. The $17 million would boost academic programs and technology.
