Former Denver Public Schools Superintendent Jerry Wartgow has been named interim dean of the University of Denver Morgridge College of Education, officials said Tuesday.
Wartgow was at the helm of Denver Public Schools for four years before leaving in 2005. He has spent 40 years as an educator.
The college has raised $35 million for a new building and three endowed faculty positions.
Former dean Ginger Maloney will stay at the college as director of a new literacy program.
Wartgow will start Sept. 3, and a national search for a dean will continue.
