Colorado’s mountain casinos suffered a 14 percent drop in revenue in July, continuing their year-long slide, according to Division of Gaming data released Tuesday.
The state’s 42 casinos posted adjusted gross proceeds — total bets minus payouts — of $65.7 million in July, down from $76.6 million during the same month in 2007. Black Hawk’s 19 casinos had revenue of $45.7 million, Cripple Creek’s 17 casinos posted $13.9 million, and Central City’s six casinos had $6.1 million. The casino industry in Colorado has posted revenue declines every month this year, stung by a slowing economy, high gas prices and a statewide smoking ban that extended to casinos in January.
