press briefings: c-minus
next question
Barack Obama and John McCain have nothing on handing out disinformation, or no information, during a news conference. The press briefings of the Beijing Organizing Committee have been nearly comical in the lack of information or answers. The media ask about protesters and whether any will be approved. (“We’re looking into it.”) They ask why no one can speak up for Tibet. (“You don’t understand China, it’s not allowed.”) They ask why fans aren’t showing up, though all tickets are sold. (“Don’t know, looking into it.”) Media frustration is showing with more pointed inquiries. Maybe that’s why three of the past four days no briefings were conducted after daily news conferences the prior seven days.
