Is it possible to hug more than 800 people in one hour?

Two local deejays did today — helping Children’s Hospital along the way.

Today over the lunch hour, Slacker and Steve from the Alice 105.9 FM afternoon show set up on the 16th Street Mall in front of the Hard Rock Cafe. They called the event Hugs for the Hospital, and participants who also made a donation to Children’s got a free lunch from the restaurant.

Donations totaled $2,123; the Hard Rock Café matched that amount. When added to pre-event donations, the total amount raised was $5,447, the radios station said.

As for hugs, Slacker and Steve wrapped their arms around 1,007.
