A bandy-legged, wobbly-kneed newcomer was seen stumbling around at the Denver Zoo on Thursday morning.

Timber, a reticulated giraffe, was born Aug. 12. He is the first calf born to his mother, Heshimu, at the zoo.

Timber entered the world at 6 feet, 2 inches, and he weighed 164 pounds.

In the next two years, his height will nearly double to about 12 feet.

Giraffes, the tallest land mammals, can grow to be 17 feet tall. Adult females can weigh up to 2,600 pounds, and males can reach more than 4,200 pounds.
