DENVER—Anti-immigration activists have gathered in Denver to promote border security at the Democratic National convention, worried that the issue has fallen off voters’ minds as the economy becomes a top concern.

Activists planned a daylong rally in a Denver park on Monday to urge Democratic nominee-to-be Barack Obama to make border security a stronger part of his campaign.

Libertarian presidential candidate Bob Barr of Georgia and Republican congressman Tom Tancredo of Colorado have agreed to speak. Tancredo made immigration the cornerstone of a brief run for president last year.

The Minuteman Civil Defense Corps plans a similar rally in Minnesota next week for the Republican National Convention.
