Colorado State men’s basketball coach Tim Miles on Monday added veteran coach Mark Graupe to his staff as an assistant. Graupe joins the Rams from Lake Region College in Devils Lake, N.D., where he compiled a 126-95 record in seven seasons as head coach. In each of the past three seasons, Graupe’s teams had 20 or more victories and twice won regional titles.
“I’ve known and respected Coach Graupe for almost 20 years and his experience and knowledge will be a great asset for the Rams,” Miles said.
Sun Belt poll favors DU.
In a preseason poll of Sun Belt Conference coaches, the University of Denver volleyball team emerged as the favorite to win the league’s West Division. The Pioneers received 10 of 13 first-place votes. Middle Tennessee (12 first-place votes) was picked to win the East Division.
DU sophomore Kacie Wikierak was chosen to the preseason all-Sun Belt team and selected preseason defensive player of the year.
Ulanski signs with Eagles.
The Colorado Eagles of the Central Hockey League signed former University of Denver player Kevin Ulanski, a 5-foot-11, 190-pound winger. Ulanski was an assistant captain on the Pioneers’ consecutive NCAA championship teams in 2004 and 2005.
