FORT COLLINS — A 22-year-old man who was hit by a train early Saturday in Fort Collins was identified Monday as Gordon Todd-Stearns.
Rita Davis, spokesperson for the Fort Collins Police Department, said police have not been able to interview Todd-Stearns about why he was lying on the tracks.
The accident happened about 6 a.m. Saturday on the railroad tracks west of Creekside Park.
Todd-Stearns was hospitalized at the Medical Center of the Rockies after he was hit by the northbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe train.
The train conductor spotted a person on the tracks and hit the train’s emergency brakes, but the train, which was traveling 10 to 15 mph, couldn’t stop in time.
