ENGLEWOOD, Colo.—Wyoming delegates are talking about energy as the Democratic convention gets under way in Denver.

The delegates met with representatives of the energy industry over breakfast at their suburban Englewood hotel on Monday to discuss nominee-in-waiting Barack Obama’s policies.

Dave Lerner, an alternate delegate from Cheyenne, says Obama should establish a policy like Germany’s that requires new homes to have solar power, instead of focusing on building more nuclear plants.

Lerner says solar is “a much better alternative to nuclear power.”

Lerner is still pledged to Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton. He jokes that he doesn’t even know what he’s supposed to do at the convention.

He says “I’m really at the bottom of the totem pole.”
