ATLANTA—The Federal Aviation Administration says a communication failure at a Georgia facility that processes flight plans for the eastern half of the U.S. is causing flight delays around the country.
But FAA spokeswoman Kathleen Bergen says there are no safety issues and officials are still able to speak to pilots.
It’s unclear how many flights are affected.
Bergen says there’s been a failure in a communication link that transmits flight data from an FAA facility in Hampton, Ga., to a similar facility in Salt Lake City.
Denver International Airport spokesman Chuck Cannon says the FAA has indicated flights in and out of Denver are not being impacted.
Cannon says a backup computer in Salt Lake City is handling most traffic affected by the computer outage.
