Senator Barack Obama, the presumptive Democratic nominee for president, will be flying into the metro area this afternoon, one day before he is scheduled to accept his party’s nomination in Invesco Field at Mile High Stadium.

The senator will arrive on the heels of a gorgeous, sunny day, where the high will peak at a comfortable 84 degrees.

When his plane touches down, temperatures will be heading toward a 54-degree overnight low.

The National Weather Service forecasts clear skies tonight, with winds blowing gently from the northeast.

Tomorrow will be another beautiful day. Sunny skies will bring a high near 83 degrees.

Clear, dry skies are in the forecast for Thursday night, when Sen. Obama delivers his acceptance speech.

The overnight low will drop again to 54 degrees, the weather service reports.

On Friday, as delegates, activists and visitors prepare to wrap up their convention activities, sunny skies will persist.

The flood of travelers will probably cause holdups at airport security, but delays from rain appear unlikely.

The weather service expects highs near 83 on Friday, with no chance of showers or thunderstorms.

Warmer temps are in the forecast for Labor Day weekend. Saturday’s high will climb to a steamy 89 degrees, and Sunday’s high will hang near 88.

After a relatively dry week, storm clouds may roll in on Sunday afternoon. The weather service expects a slight chance of rain.

Monday will see partly cloudy skies for Labor Day, with a high near 86 degrees and a slight possibility of showers and thunderstorms.
