Rates: During low season a studio starts at $169, a residence $199, deluxe residence $239, and one- bedroom suite $299. Peak rates are much higher. Parking is additional.

It’s close to: Mountain Village. The gondola to Telluride provides consistently humbling views of the San Juans. The 9545 Restaurant & Bar adds to the inn’s very fine perks. Allred’s at the high point on the gondola serves fine food and divine panoramas.

The rooms are: understatedly posh with inviting beds, luxurious bathrooms with steam shower and separate jetted marble tub, flat-screen HDTVs and nicely appointed kitchenettes.

They put all of the money into: subtle but assured details, and an attentively friendly staff, make the inn intimate and elegant yet perfectly comfortable.
