DENVER—Police continue to look for the suspect and a motive in the fatal shooting of an Adams County prosecutor outside his northwest Denver home.

Thirty-seven-year-old Sean May was gunned down around 6:20 p.m. Wednesday. Authorities say he was shot in the head and abdomen.

Police spokesman Detective John White says every effort is being made to find the person who shot May. Witnesses reported seeing a man running from May’s home after the shooting.

May was with the Adams County district attorney’s office for seven years. It’s not clear if the shooting was connected to his work or was random.

The prosecutor’s office wouldn’t say if May had received threats.
