I just wanted to express my disappointment with a comment I read in John Henderson’s article “Olympics: Games bring out good, bad and ugly in athletes.” To say we are no longer impressed with swimming world records is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. In an article that totally bashes our American athletes, there is no need to take a shot at probably the single greatest sporting performance in history, much less Olympic history. I understand the gist of the article; I just do not understand that comment. I would like to see this guy get in the pool and just swim a couple of the races Michael Phelps did to see what he has to say after that. It’s a sad thing that your paper let that comment get through.
