SKY SOX END SEASON WITH WIN
The Colorado Springs Sky Sox scored two runs in the top of the ninth inning for a season-ending 5-3 victory Monday over the host Las Vegas 51s in a Pacific Coast League game.
Mike McCoy’s sacrifice fly to center field scored Kenny Perez as the Sky Sox broke a 3-3 tie, and Christian Colonel’s line-drive single to right brought in Cory Sullivan for the final run.
McCoy’s solo home run in the first inning gave the Sky Sox an early lead.
Juan Morillo threw two hitless innings in relief to earn his first win of the season for the Sky Sox (71-72), who finished out of playoff contention in third place in the Pacific North division.
Ex-Montbello star honored.
Former Montbello High School football standout Katrel Larkins was named the Mid-America Intercollegiate Athletics Association co-defensive player of the week after the linebacker led Emporia (Kan.) State with 12 tackles in a 42-0 victory over Western State on Saturday.
