Sen. Ken Salazar sent two “blue slips” to the Senate Judiciary Committee on Tuesday asking them to consider nominating Christine Arguello and Gregory Goldberg to the U.S. District Court bench.
The Judiciary Committee has slated a nominations hearing next week. The committee sends “blue slips” to Colorado’s senators, and the senators return the slips to signal their approval of the nominees.
Only four U.S. District Court judges are carrying full caseloads in Denver, and two are in semi-retirement. There are three vacancies.
Arguello is managing senior associate counsel at the University of Colorado and an ex-deputy attorney general. Goldberg is an attorney in private practice and ex-federal prosecutor.
