Forward Herculez Gomez said this morning he has been traded to the Kansas City Wizards for a couple of future draft picks and cash.
“I feel good. It’s sad to leave a great place like Colorado,” said Gomez, who joined the team prior to the 2007 season. He had two goals and an assist this year after coming back from an ACL tear.
The Rapids received a fourth-round pick in the 2009 SuperDraft and first-round pick in the ’09 supplimental draft as well as undisclosed amount of money.
The Rapids, who next play Thursday night at Dallas, are 7-12-3 and fighting for a playoff spot.
