The Grateful Dead have confirmed they will regroup to play at least one concert to benefit Democratic presidential candidate Barack Obama.
The band — minus legendary guitarist Jerry Garcia, who died in 1995 — will perform Oct. 13 at Penn State in State College, Pa. The Allman Brothers Band is also on the bill.
It will be the first time since 2004 that Bob Weir, Phil Lesh, Bill Kreutzmann and Mickey Hart have played together. Guitarist Warren Haynes and keyboard player Jeff Chimenti will fill out the sound, according to a report in music magazine Relix.
A spring tour could be in the works if the reunion performance goes well. The Philadelphia Inquirer
