GRAND JUNCTION — The body of a woman found on an embankment along the Main Line Grand Valley Canal in Grand Junction has been identified as that of an 81-year-old dementia patient reported missing a few hours earlier.

Police say Afton Worley was last seen at home Saturday. She was reported as a missing person Tuesday morning when the front door of her home was found open and she could not be located.

This afternoon, the Mesa County Coroner’s Office positively identified Worley and said her death was caused by hypothermia.
