DENVER—Rep. Marilyn Musgrave has yet to speak with Sarah Palin since John McCain announced the Alaska governor as his running mate, but the Colorado Republican came away impressed after Palin’s speech Wednesday night at the Republican National Convention.

“It was absolutely amazing. There were very few people in the convention center who had any voice left when she got done. The cheering was amazing,” Musgrave said by telephone from St. Paul, Minn.

Palin took swipes at Democratic candidate Barack Obama and discussed her family, saying they face the same ups and downs as any other. Among family members watching her speech was Palin’s 17-year-old unmarried daughter who is pregnant.

“Her strength and ability to lead came through. What an incredible woman,” Musgrave said.

Musgrave said she and Palin would work hard to win Colorado for McCain. “Our nine electoral votes can make a huge difference in this presidential race,” she said.
