The FBI on Wednesday expressed concern over a serial bank robber dubbed the “Super Sloth Bandit” who has robbed two banks twice in recent weeks and appears to be wielding a semiautomatic handgun.

Kathy Wright, an agent with the Federal Bureau of Investigation, said the suspect, who is about 5-foot-9 and weighs 175 to 185 pounds, robbed the Bank of the West at 12080 Colorado Blvd. in Thornton on July 24 and again Tuesday.

On July 2 and again on Aug. 12, the man robbed the Compass Bank at 7375 Ralston Road in Arvada.

She said “Super Sloth Bandit” was the moniker given to the suspect by the FBI Rocky Mountain Safe Street Task Force because the word “super” appears on some of his clothing and because his physical appearance is similar to a sloth.
