About Monday night’s game against the Raiders …
For the Broncos, the bad news is that their run defense ranked 31st in the league last season in average yards per rush.
The good news? The Chargers lost Sunday, leaving first place in the AFC West for the taking.
Oh, and did I mention the Raiders’ run defense ranked 32nd in the league in average yards per rush?
“Stats,” Raiders defensive coordinator Rob Ryan said, when asked about his run D. “You can do anything you want with them. If you have leads, obviously, you’re going to face more passing game. We haven’t had that luxury around here lately.”
True. The Raiders usually fall behind and stay there. That’s the key for the Broncos in their season opener: grab the lead and ask questions later.
