SAN DIEGO — Although LaDainian Tomlinson’s jammed right big toe was wrapped Monday, Chargers fans apparently have nothing to fear.
“No, I don’t think so,” the running back said.
Tomlinson jammed his toe when a Panthers player landed on the back of his leg during the Chargers’ final drive of Sunday’s 26-24 loss to Carolina. The two-time defending NFL rushing champion said he thinks it’s too early to tell if the injury will affect him.
“But I don’t think it’s anything serious,” Tomlinson said. “There was nothing that came up on the X-rays. That’s the good thing. It’s a little sore (Monday). That’s to be expected. It’s doing OK.”
The Chargers face the Broncos on Sunday in Denver.
Seattle’s Burleson out for season
RENTON, Wash. — Nate Burleson is out for the season after an MRI showed the Seahawks receiver tore the anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee while trying to cut outside on a pass pattern on a rain-slicked, synthetic field in Buffalo on Sunday during Seattle’s 34-10 loss.
The injury occurred midway through the third quarter when he appeared to trip over his own feet.
“Tried to plant. Nobody around me at all. I don’t know if I got caught in the grass,” Burleson said. “It’s tough news — especially after a loss, man.”
Coach Mike Holmgren said backup quarterback Seneca Wallace, who fair caught two punts for Burleson late in the loss to the Bills, “quite possibly” will have a primary receiving role Sunday against the 49ers.
