The Women’s Bean Project, a nonprofit that helps women work toward independence, will host a Bean Soup Social from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Saturday at the Orchard Town Center, 14750 Huron St., Westminster.

Chefs from Mexico Cantina y Cocina, Rock Bottom Brewery and Woodlands Grill will make soup. Volunteers from the Westminster fire and police departments, and from the mayor’s office, will serve, along with iced tea, cornbread, cookies and brownies.

Bowls decorated by local musicians, community leaders and media personalities (including The Post’s Kristen Browning- Blas) will be auctioned to raise funds for the program, whose motto is: “The Women’s Bean Project does not hire women to make and sell bean products. We make and sell bean products to hire women.”

Tickets for the Bean Soup Social are $20 for adults and $5 for children, and include entry to the event, food and drink, and a “Recipe for Success Cookbook.” Kids will get a craft to decorate.
